Proverbs stands as the most popular wisdom book in Scripture. Critics of Proverbs assert that Proverbs (along with other wisdom literature) is too secular and lacks huge biblical themes found in the rest of the Old Testament. This lesson studies the bookends of Proverbs to demonstrate this book is anything but secular. Proverbs 1-9 and 30-31 assume a worldview that this world and universe was created with purpose. Because of this, the wise can find patterns at work and learn from them but only in the fear of the LORD.
